A Live Exploration of Psychology, Symbolism, and the Stories That Shape Our Lives

Astrology on the Fringe is a live discussion series that explores the intersection of psychology, human behavior, symbolism, and cultural narratives. While astrology provides a symbolic framework, the deeper focus of this exercise is on how people interpret experience, form beliefs, and make decisions based on the stories running in the background of their minds.

Each inquiry takes a concept — from ancient symbolism to modern psychology — and examines it from multiple angles:
• cognitive and behavioral science
• cultural narratives and inherited beliefs
• symbolic and mythological frameworks
• real-world decision making

The goal is not prediction.

The goal is understanding the invisible frameworks that shape human behavior.

Current Series: The Power of the Subconscious Mind
In this series we are reading and dissecting The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy. Rather than treating the book as a manifestation guide, we explore the psychological ideas beneath it, including how beliefs influence behavior, how identity shapes opportunity, and how internal contradictions can quietly affect the choices people make over time.
What We’re Exploring in the Book
Throughout the series we examine recurring themes in the book such as internal conflict, inherited beliefs about struggle and success, the role of the subconscious in shaping expectations, and the way repeated thoughts and behaviors gradually influence the direction of a person’s life.

Where We Are Now
We are currently exploring Wealth Without Conflict, a section focused on the idea that many people unconsciously associate struggle with moral worth. This discussion examines how inherited narratives about hardship, success, and abundance can create internal tension and influence how people respond to opportunity and stability.

Chapters 9 & 10 - The Power of the Subconscious Mind
Wealth Without Conflict

In this session we explore Chapters 9 and 10 of The Power of Your Subconscious Mind, focusing on how internal beliefs about struggle, worth, and abundance can quietly influence behavior. These chapters suggest that many people experience internal conflict when they desire success or stability while simultaneously holding beliefs that associate hardship with moral virtue.

Rather than approaching the material as manifestation or affirmation practices, the discussion examines the psychological ideas beneath the text: how inherited narratives about suffering, effort, and deservingness shape expectations and decision-making over time.
Key Themes
-
Internal conflict between desire and identity
-
Cultural narratives that associate struggle with virtue
-
How criticizing what we want creates psychological distance from it
-
The role of subconscious beliefs in shaping expectations and choices
-
Learning to observe internal narratives without judgment
Guiding Questions For the Conversation
-
Where might we have learned to associate struggle with virtue?
-
How do internal narratives influence what feels possible or permissible?
-
What happens when desire and identity are in quiet contradiction?
-
How can awareness of these patterns change the way we approach opportunity and growth?
Participants will also work through the Wealth Without Conflict worksheet, which includes reflection prompts and a short narrative observation exercise designed to help identify internal narratives and patterns in everyday thinking.

Join the live discussion on Clubhouse as we unpack these ideas together.
